
Gary Barnes is a photographer, musician and technology aficionado currently living just outside of San Diego, California. His personal website serves as both a working digital portfolio, and as a blog with which he can share his recent activities and ideas involving photography, art, travel and music. One of his personal goals is to use his photography to show the world the rapid effects of climate change, and the increasing importance of conservation. He would like to soon turn his love of photography into a profession, and hopes to someday persue the field of photojournalism and adventure photography.
In terms of music, Gary is a vocalist and a composer. He has a great interest in theatre, and is currently composing a musical in his spare time. As a vocalist, Gary is a lyric baritone with experience in ensemble, quartet and solo singing. He has also been involved in the performance aspect of musical theatre. In terms of music production, Gary has experience with studio recording and mixing using professional hardware and software.
Gary’s photography skills involve experience with studio work, travel/street photography and photojournalism. He currently shoots in digital with a Pentax K10D, but he has worked with film in the past and has a personal preference for rangefinders. He also has experience developing black and white film and working in the darkroom. On the digital side, Gary has amassed an advanced Photoshop skill set, which aids him in the post-processing stage. In addition, Gary often does freelance portrait and headshot work.
